Maastricht Institute of Arts – Pointcloud to BIM in ArchiCAD
For the planning of the renovation and sustainability project at the Maastricht Institute of Arts, it was essential to accurately map the existing situation. BIMnD digitally surveyed the entire complex, both inside and out, and converted it into a 3D ArchiCAD model.
Summary of Work:
Using advanced static scanners from FARO Technologies, we precisely mapped the building exteriors, including façades and roofs.
The interiors of all buildings were accurately captured using mobile scanners from NavVis, resulting in a comprehensive view of all architectural and technical elements.
Data Registration and Processing: The collected survey data was consolidated into a single Pointcloud (E57 format) and then converted into a 3D BIM model in ArchiCAD.
Virtual Tour: Simultaneously with the surveying process, we created a virtual 360° tour. This tour is available online for stakeholders, minimising the need for on-site visits while providing a clear and accurate view of the current situation on any device.
Thanks to this approach, the client can identify and resolve potential issues early on, leading to significant time and cost savings during the project’s execution.
